But the question remains, when is it acceptable to support the patients’ wishes and when is it not? In the case of Larry McAfee, I believe that his wishes to end his life should have been granted. McAfee became a quadriplegic at a young age after a horrible motorcycle accident injured his C1 and C2 vertebrae. He lived in his quadriplegic condition for many years before deciding that he didn’t want to live life like this anymore. I believe that McAfee was completely competent enough to make that decision on his own after living in that state for so long and exhausting all the possibilities of living comfortably. In the end, he was granted the permission for assisted suicide, and although he chose not to end his life, I believe that the choice should have always been his to make. However, in cases similar to Dax Cowart I do not think that assisted suicide should be granted. Cowart was a twenty nine year old that suffered third degree burns from a car accident. Immediately after his accident he want to kill himself because he could not bare the pain anymore, but his mother overruled that decision and forced him to fight for his life. Although the recovery process was an unimaginably painful and grueling experience, Cowart fought through it and ended up becoming a lawyer, getting married and living a good life. In the initial moment of pain and suffering I do not think that one is capable or competent enough to make such decisions of ending his or her life. Therefore in cases like Cowarts’, I do not believe one should be granted such wishes, unless they have lived with the condition and have exhausted every possible way of living life to its full potential, like in the case of McAfee. The case of Ramon Sampedro from the film is quite similar to the case of Larry McAfee. Both Ramon and Larry were involved in accidents at a young age that left them bedridden quadriplegics. After living life in such conditions for many years, I believe that Ramon, like Larry, was competent enough to make the decision of whether or not he wanted to take his own life and be free from suffering. Overall, I feel as though there is no good or right answer to the assisted suicide debate because of the subjective nature of the topic. However, I do believe that everyone has a right to freely make choices upon being deemed â€Å"competent†. In cases like Larry Macafee and Ramon Sampedro from the film, the choice should be theirs since they are both clearly competent and have experienced life with their condition for many years. However, in cases such as Dax Cowart, competent decisions cannot be made immediately after such accidents because the person is in such pain that they are not thinking clearly. The plan had certain aims and objectives to achieve, and was to be reviewed after a five-year period. There were fifteen themes and sectors, with detailed actions that were to be pursued to achieve its objectives. The National Biodiversity Plan established special protected areas, which was important for the conservation of biodiversity in Ireland. About 10% of Ireland was considered to be important for nature conservation and were included in the protected areas programme. The framework for site protection in Ireland, both in terms of what should be protected and how it should be protected, are determined by national and by EU policy. These systems and techniques of protecting the SPAs, were options in the REPS schemes, where there was added incentives and bonuses to the farmer for undertaking measures which were designed to improve biodiversity on his/her farm. REPS become a very important scheme to farmers in these SPAs, particularly in west county Cavan as there were substantial payments on an annual basis for any participating farmer. An example of a supplementary measure that could be undertaken to enhance biodiversity in REPS is the conservation of wild bird habitats. This supplementary measure aims to improve habitat structures for wild birds and provide them with more breeding sites. There are SPAs designated throughout the country to protect vulnerable species such as the corncrake and the hen harrier. Each farmer could receive an extra payment for undertaking a supplementary measure, as mentioned above, on top of their REPS payment which was paid on a per hectare basis. A REPS plan had to be drawn up by an approved planner, and any plan that included commonage/NHA/SAC/SPAs had to be approved and sig ned by an approved environmentalist. The planner should set out the management requirements according to the relevant commonage framework plan, NPWS site management plan or agreed farming prescription. The plan has to include an environmental report, prepared by the environmentalist. Specific site requirements might include features such as adjustment to stock numbers or grazing regime, remedial works such as fencing or rubbish removal, restricted use of pesticides and fertilisers or any additional requirements set out in the REPS planner. Schemes such as the National Biodiversity Plans, Commonage Framework Plans, Duchas/NPWS plans and REPS plans have all brought positive impacts to areas such as west county Cavan an I expect will continue in the future in some form. Suggestions that some emphasis will be placed on public goods in the SFP post 2013 is positive, and indicates that both the EU and the Irish government are intent on protecting Ireland commonage and wildlife features into the future. We came to the conclusion that sustainability within the region could be viewed under a number of headings social, economical and environmental factors. Social: The reasons as that were explained during the tour relating to social factors within the region was that not much employment outside of farming existed within the region and more often than not the younger generation saw a way out of this with emigration from the region being the resulting factor. This then resulted in that generation getting educated leaving the region taking up residence close to work mainly along the east coast which resulted in the west Cavan region being abandoned and loose all revenue which such people living in the area would have brought. Such a situation also leaves a bleak outlook for agriculture as there remains no successor to take the reins after the current proprietor passes, Economic: If the region is to remain sustainable in an economic sense there is vital need for encouragement to build on the current population within the region. The lockers, materials, and grades are all part of the milestone to middle school. Lockers are one of the toughest things new 6th graders must get use to. The lockers have a lock on each one. The lock is opened with a three-digit code. It may take a while to get use to the turning and memorizing the passcode. New students who have not used a lock before usually have a hard time opening their lockers and may ask friends or neighbors to help, these students may have to take a week or so to get the hang of it. One of the new things students are introduced in middle school are tardys, lates, and detentions. Students usually get detention if they are late to class, forget to bring class supplies, or talk in class too much. Only the first week is an exception because everyone is adjusting to his or her new schedule. The materials for each class are different and unique. Some classes you need a journal or notebook; or a pen or pencil. For every class everyone needs a 2-4 inch binder that holds all seven class periods including elective and health. A binder holds all of the papers, pencils, pens, highlighters, erasers, and other supplies needed for each class. Additionally, people have to switch binders at least once a year since they break easily if someone drops them or the ring get demented. The papers the teacher gives you must be put in the rings, the binder can will overflow if you put it in the folders or just stuff it in. Edline is used to put assignments out, notices, emergencies, homework, and their current assign report (current grades). A current assignment report is created for each teacher the student has and a homeroom for absents, lates, or tardys. When someone is absent on a day then the teacher can either put a Z or an X. A Z is the student has not turned it work in by the due date. And an X is the student is excused for their missed work. If the student has a Z and does not turn it in by the end of the quarter, it turns into a 0 (zero). Near the end of the marking period, if the student has an 89. 4 or a 79. 4 then they can ask the teacher for one point to bump up their grade to the next grade letter. Worries and anxiousness may take over and control the human mind, making them stress and get irritated a lot. This can pull there grades down with all the stress accumulating.
